Top Seniors Win Department Awards
The NC State Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies celebrated the academic achievements of its top seniors at its annual Student Awards Reception on February 28. Three awards were presented by faculty members who had worked closely with the award winners.
Yale Professor Gives Impact of Religion Lecture on Oprah 2020
Kathryn Lofton, professor of religion at Yale, presented this year's Impact of Religion Lecture to an enthusiastic audience on Thursday, February 22. The topic was "Oprah 2020: The Problem of Celebrity and Politics in America.”
McLaughlin Awarded Luce/ACLS Fellowship
Levi McLaughlin, assistant professor of religious studies, has been awarded a Luce/ACLS Fellowship in Religion, Journalism and International Affairs for the 2018-19 academic year. The fellowship will support McLaughlin’s project Religious Influences on Japanese Politics and Policymaking.
Dale Jamieson Gives World Philosophy Day Lecture on Loving Nature
NC State’s third World Philosophy Day Lecture was given on Thursday, November 16. The speaker was Dale Jamieson, professor of philosophy and environmental studies at New York University, who spoke on “Loving Nature.”
