Robert S. Bryan Dies at 93

Robert S. Bryan, emeritus professor of philosophy and head of the department of philosophy and religion at NC State University from 1966 until 1989, died in Raleigh on March 2, 2019. He was 93.

Distinguished Scholar Gives Impact of Religion Lecture

NC State’s fourth annual Impact of Religion Lecture was presented on Monday, February 18. The speaker was Jeffrey Stout, emeritus professor of religion at Princeton University. His topic was “Cinematic Spectacles of Sacred Suffering: Ethical Challenges in Dreyer and Von Trier.”

Levi McLaughlin, associate professor of religious studies, has published an important new book on one of the most influential religious movements in modern Japan. He has also been awarded a distinguished visiting position in Japanese Studies for the 2019/20 academic year.
